Kvarteret is a student culture house in Bergen and your ticket to a better student every day!
Kvarteret was opened by King Haakon 22th of february 1995. The name “Det Akademiske Kvarter” is a tradition that means that academics had a quarter of an hour past arranged time to meet “precisely”. In the same tradition, previously, all the clocks for lectures at Norwegian universities were set at a quarter of an hour before the lecture itself. This reason has always led to an extra 15 minutes to meet friends andt Kvarteret.
The student culture house is divided into three floors, with around 2200 events yearly and has, after an extensive rebuilding between 2007-2010, expanded its capacity to 1500 visitors. The house has several bars and venues that are used daily for different debates, concerts and events. Kvarteret is wheelchair accessible and has an elevator for all floors.
The house is driven by a couple of hundred volunteers who work to make student life in Bergen better.
We are very proud to offer a wide range of events yearly, a good social work environment and one of Bergens greatest atmospheres. To do this, we work together with a number of organizers, especially with our organizations 'Aktive Studenters Forening', 'Bergen Filmklubb', 'Bergen Realistforening', 'Studentteateret Immaturus' and 'Studentersamfunnet i Bergen'.
As a volunteer at Kvarteret you get a big social network, good work experience and more internal benefits that include free meals and drinks and free access to several events. In addition, you will be part of various internal social events, such as parties, 'Julebord' and cabin trips. You can read more about the groups by clicking the button below!
